Swimsuit model Molly Sims dives into jewelry November 12th, 2009 at 11:50 pm

Before Molly Sims ever modeled bikinis for Sports Illustrated, she collected vintage jewelry with her mother, who bought it by the box at estate auctions.

Early in her career, Sims used the necklaces, earrings and bracelets to build her outfits on the cheap. Jewelry became a defining part of her style, even after she hit the red carpet.

So when Sims decided to put her name on a product, jewelry was the obvious choice. The result: an affordable, vintage-inspired, retro line called Grayce by HSN, which debuts Friday.

Sims, 36, designed the pieces for every style, from the all-American white T-shirt and jeans to the jet-set bohemian long dress and flip-flops. Prices range from $29.95 to $119.95.

Sims came to town this week to celebrate the launch and host a grand opening party for the newly renovated Postcard Inn on the Beach on Saturday night. In an interview, she spoke about her jewelry and her secret for staying in shape.

Compared with a lot of celebrity lines, your jewelry is quite affordable. Was that a requirement?

Yes. Beauty shouldn’t be defined by price, but at the same time it has to be good quality. I hate really badly made things, whether it cost a dollar or a thousand dollars. I want people to be able to have it and wear it and not feel like they’re going to spend a fortune and can’t buy anything else.

Does the spelling of Grayce have any significance?

Honestly, no. I just wanted to be cool (laughs). My mom always taught me to dare to be different, but also have rules. She said every girl, no matter how old she is, should have a bit of grace.

Do you worry about spending too much time in the sun?

I wear a tinted moisturizer with 20 sunscreen every day. Yeah, I watch it, but I don’t obsess. If I want to go to the beach, I wear a hat.

How do you stay in such great shape?

Tracy Anderson (trainer to Gwyneth Paltrow and other stars). She’s transformed my body. Listen, I’m not going to lie to you. I work out really hard — an hour to 1 1/2 hours every day. I think that’s the biggest misconception and it kind of annoys me. People say, “Wow, you’re really in good shape.” Yes, because I work at it.

Your Funny or Die videos are hilarious, especially the one on Lashisse, a spoof on the eyelash growth treatment Latisse. Any flack from them?

No, and you want to know the funniest thing? No one knows this, but I actually use it. It’s fantastic.

Molly Sims Defends Josh Duhamel November 11th, 2009 at 11:40 pm

Molly Sims has a simple message when asked about her former Las Vegas costar Josh Duhamel’s rumored infidelity: “Don’t believe everything you read.”

“We e-mailed yesterday,” she tells E!’s Daily 10 on Wednesday. “It’s absolutely not true – and he’s a great guy. I’ve worked with him for five years.”

Duhamel has vigorously defended himself against allegations by Nicole Forrester, a stripper in Atlanta, who said she had sex with Duhamel one night at the St. Regis Hotel. Forrester also sold her story to the National Enquirer for more than $20,000.

Duhamel and wife Fergie’s reps have denied the allegations. “This is not the first nor will it be the last time that a stripper was paid a large amount of money to sell a false story about a celebrity,” Duhamel’s rep said. “This story is absolutely ridiculous.”

According to Sims, Duhamel and Fergie are the victims of someone, “[who's] trying to make a lot of money.” “Josh is a great guy,” she says, “and it’s sad ’cause his wife is amazing, too.”

Molly Sims Shares Slimming Secrets, Jewelry Tips November 6th, 2009 at 12:51 am

Molly Sims and Gwyneth Paltrow have something in common: their trainer.

“Tracy Anderson has really changed my body since March,” Molly, 36, says during the ACE Awards presented by the Accessories Council held at NYC’s Cipriani 42nd Street this week. “Honestly, I have done a lot of different methods, a lot of different things, and I love it. I’ve seen the most results in my arms, my legs and my stomach.”

She continues, “I was talking to Gwyneth, and I was like ‘we all have the same arms.’ Yeah! I have arm strength and definition. I never had that before.”

The actress shares her routine.

“It’s an hour-and-a-half cardio, leg, arm, butt, stomach,” she says. “It’s hardcore. Six days a week.”

What advice can she give about dressing thinner?

“Know your body,” she tells me. “Know if you look better in a crew neck. Like, I know that I look better in v-necks and round necks as opposed to cap sleeves. Spanx are fantastic. Dress in black a little bit more on the bottom than on the top – whatever your area is – if you’re top heavy, dress in darker colors on the top as opposed to the bottom.”

But it’s not all about clothes for the actress who is launching her own jewelry line, Grayce By Molly Sims.

“You’re never fully dressed without jewelry,” she tells me. “I would feel naked without my jewelry. I love wearing it. I love accessories in general. Most days, accessories wear me. I love bags.”

What’s her inspiration for her line?

“My mom has been collecting for thirty years,” she says. “She used to go to estate auctions all over the world, and she would buy boxes for $10, $20. When I didn’t have a lot of money, when I was first starting modeling, I would have this really great jewelry, so I would end up buying basic things and building the wardrobe around the jewelry. I got known for that, and I always dared to wear statement jewelry. I’m a big layerer. I love mixing metals, and I was just like ‘I’m doing it.’”

Molly’s mission to save kids November 1st, 2009 at 11:01 pm

On a charity mission to Haiti, Molly Sims showed prostitutes how to use condoms and helped children sold as domestic slaves. The actress and model said she was “shocked” to see the conditions the youngsters were forced to live in. Sims told Page Six, “It is heartbreaking to see so many young girls and boys suffering. I spent some time visiting brothels and showing prostitutes how to use condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS. I met one woman who has three children and prostitution is the only thing she can do to feed them. I met children sold by their families into domestic slavery, who are abused and worked around the clock.” Sims visited Haiti as an ambassador for Population Services International. She plans to sponsor the schooling of three children sold into domestic slavery. She added, “It costs just $200 to get them into school for a year, and would make so much difference because they have no light in their lives.”
